Must have worked in the packaging industry or within a FMCG industry.
The storeman is responsible for managing all functions of stock and equipment. They ensure that stock levels do not run out. They also track inventory spending, as well as keeping records of where the inventory and stock are going.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Organise general layout of parts to minimise the effort of selecting parts required.
- Ensure stock location, records and necessary controls operate effectively.
- Accept and issue stock only against documentation.
- Maintain a well laid out and organised store.
- Ensure good housekeeping.
- Ensure that unnecessary damage and loss, or waste of stocks does not occur.
- Ensure that all stock records are up-to-date and accurate.
- Carry out perpetual and wall-to-wall stocktaking to ensure accuracy of records.
- Maintain effective communications with the maintenance planner to ensure that the parts are procured on time.
- Secure stock from fire, damage, or theft by implementing company policies.
- Control and issue acquired parts.
- Conduct monthly counts of all spares and compile a report of all the stock counts for submission to management.
- Receive deliveries.
- Drives forklift for equipment and materials handling where necessary
- Performing welding work where required.
Qualifications:
- N4 Mechanical / electrical engineering or similar qualification.
- Must have at least 3 years of experience in the maintenance stores environment.
- Inventory management/ stores and stock control certificate (advantageous)
- Must have matric certificate.
- Computer Literacy, proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Must be in possession of a Forklift license.
- Knowledgeable in health and safety principles.
