Corrugator Quality Technician/Inspector

We are seeking QCs Tech for a 4–6-month duration.

The QC Tech is to ensure all produced and delivered products meet the Everest Corrugated standard and exceed our customers’ expectations.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Monitor and record the quality of all produced boards.
  • Perform verification on incoming, in-process, and outgoing finished products
  • Ensure that the quality of all boards produced is up to specification and contains minimal to no defects
  • Make informed decisions and take a stand for quality assurance
  • Report all online quality problems to the control room operator immediately and follow up to ensure changes are made to reduce waste
  • Perform testing and analysis of paper and board samples
  • Analyse samples and provide feedback linked to customer complaints
  • Isolate, reject and record all non-conforming materials, in-process jobs, and completed products
  • Manage samples (raw, converted, customer samples) ensuring they are properly stored and labelled
  • Maintain and analyse a database of quality information
  • Verify all customer returns placed in the GRN area for investigation and feedback
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of quality-related returns with the production team
  • Verify measuring equipment on the factory floor (scales, tape measures)
  • Monitor and record paper material issues during shifts
  • Compile quality reports when required
  • Ensure the daily quality register is completed and distributed at the end of each shift
  • Reject raw materials (paper) by identifying and communicating rejections to QA and receiving departments
  • Ensure rejected reels are isolated and identifiable with a QC rejection label
  • Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor and/or manager/ management

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) completion
  • Basic computer knowledge and usage of computer programs such as MS Office
  • Knowledge in:
  • Corrugated board
  • Paper
  • Importance of quality control
  • Basic knowledge of quality control processes and procedures

Requirements:

Willingness to work shifts and overtime

2-3 years Quality Control experience

  • Sufficient physical reflexes and personal mobility
  • Good clarity of hearing and speech

Key Performance Indicators (KPI):

  • Monthly net credits
  • Aging stock – ensure GRV area is clean
  • Plant waste – meet KPI set target 6%
  • Quality detection rates
  • External customer complaints
  • GRV investigation and recovery initiative

Reporting and feedback:

  • Report directly to Quality Manager
  • Reports on all quality issues experience and correction action taken
